| Abstract | The socio-political shift that occurred in the year 2014, with the establishment of Telangana as the 29th state in India, had a tremendous socio-political transformational effect on the state and the 29th state of India, which turned out to have serious socio-political implications, particularly on the Muslim population, especially among the migrants. The paper explores the socio-economic status of migrant Muslims in post-reorganization Telangana based on the Sudhir Commission Report (2016), Census data (2011), and other analyses that took place in the period 2014-2023. The population of Muslims in Telangana is about 12.7 percent, and 75-80 percent of the populace is a member of the backward classes. Although the state has a strong economic growth rate, GSDP rose between 6.8% in 2013-14 and 10.4% in 2017-18, the communities in Islam are still subjected to a chronic socio-economic marginalization. According to the Sudhir Commission (2016), 48 percent of the Muslim households live below the monthly income of 10,000, and the representation in government jobs is merely 7.36 percent against the 13 percent of the population size. The migrant Muslims have exacerbated vulnerabilities, such as language barriers, credit access (only 27% use the services of banks), and housing (34% reside in rented accommodation). The article uses a quantitative analysis of government data and a qualitative understanding of the field research to evaluate educational levels, the occupational trends, and policy interventions. Results show that even though the economy of Telangana has substantially grown after the reorganization, not all have shared the benefits, and the Muslim migrants have become poorer and socially excluded. Inclusion Development policies, better reservation systems, and specific interventions are the recommendations to improve the socio-economic opportunities of migrant Muslim communities in Telangana, which bring the study to its conclusions. |
