| Abstract | Menstruation is a natural and normal biological process yet it is not spoken about openly causing unnecessary embarrassment and shame. Many cultures have beliefs, myths and taboos relating to menstruation. Part of a culture of silence, menstruation remains a taboo in many cultures. Menstruation related problems are not openly discussed and there is stigma surrounding personal hygiene and health. Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) is a recognized public health, social and educational issue, which must be achieved to allow the realization of human rights. Initiated by WASH United, the first global Menstrual Hygiene Day was celebrated on May 28th, 2014 around the world aimed at breaking the silence around menstruation. The present research paper brings into account the level of awareness among adolescent girls in rural areas of Moga district of Punjab regarding the of Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) scheme.
