A Study on Digital Competency and Teaching Efficacy of Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) Teachers of Poonch District in Jammu and Kashmir

Abstract The efficacy of teaching is crucial in ensuring that students have a meaningful, strong, and productive learning experience. It is important for teachers to have a strong foundation in Indian knowledge, morals, languages, attitude, and custom, but also updated and proficient in the latest advancements in education and pedagogy (NEP 2020, p. 40). The educators of the 21st century need to possess not only pedagogical skills but also research and technology skills. It is crucial for them to continuously learn and enhance their professional abilities so that they can connect theory with practice and create a conducive learning environment in the classroom. Developed nations rely on competent, knowledgeable, and technologically-savvy teachers to build their foundation. In this study, the researcher aims to investigate the teaching efficacy and digital competency of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir UT, with a focus on their gender. The sample for this study comprises 200 teachers. Simple random sampling technique was used. Self-developed scales were employed for the collection of data. The findings revealed that no significant difference was found in teaching efficacy of both male and female teachers, but in digital competency male teachers were significantly better in digital competency than female teachers.
