| Abstract | Digital transformation initiatives increasingly depend on APIs to connect applications, cloud platforms, mobile systems, and external partners. As enterprise API ecosystems grow, governance becomes a critical challenge. Many organizations successfully deploy APIs but struggle to maintain consistent security, lifecycle management, compliance, and operational visibility across distributed environments. Weak governance often leads to fragmented standards, duplicated APIs, inconsistent authentication models, and increased operational risk. This paper examines enterprise API governance models that support secure and scalable digital transformation platforms. The study explores governance structures, policy standardization, lifecycle oversight, and operational controls required for enterprise-scale API ecosystems. Rather than focusing on vendor-specific technologies, the paper emphasizes governance principles, organizational alignment, and practical implementation strategies. The paper demonstrates how structured governance models improve security, simplify compliance, and support long-term sustainability in modern enterprise architectures. |
