| Abstract | Access to reliable electricity remains one of the most critical challenges in rural regions across the world. Despite significant advancements in urban infrastructure, approximately 760 million people still lack access to electricity, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. This research paper explores the feasibility of low-cost microgrids as a sustainable solution for rural electrification. It focuses on hybrid renewable energy systems, storage technologies, and economic optimization through Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). Furthermore, the study examines socio-economic impacts, environmental benefits, and regulatory challenges associated with microgrid deployment. The findings suggest that decentralized microgrids, when designed efficiently, can provide reliable, affordable, and environmentally sustainable energy while promoting rural development and economic growth. |
