Abstract Industries often face significant penalties due to excessive peak power consumption and poor load management. To address this challenge, this work proposes an Adaptive Fuzzy Power Control (AFPC) system designed to minimize power consumption penalties while maintaining operational efficiency. The AFPC method integrates real-time monitoring of load demand with a fuzzy logic–based controller that dynamically adjusts non-critical industrial loads. By analyzing key parameters such as peak demand, load priority, energy tariffs, and equipment operating states, the controller intelligently schedules or sheds loads to keep the total demand within permissible limits. Simulation results demonstrate that the AFPC system effectively reduces peak power levels, lowers penalty charges, and improves the overall energy utilization profile of industrial facilities. The proposed approach offers a cost-efficient, reliable, and flexible solution suitable for smart industry applications and modern energy-management systems.
